Insta360's new Mic Pro wireless microphone brings a three-mic array, E-Ink branding display, 32-bit float internal recording, and deep camera integration to the creator audio market.

Insta360 has previewed its new flagship wireless microphone, the Mic Pro, at NAB Show 2026 in Las Vegas. The system goes significantly further than the company's existing Mic Air, adding a raft of professional features while retaining direct integration with Insta360 cameras.

E-Ink display

The headline feature is a customizable E-Ink display on each transmitter, which will help ease one of the main annoyances surrounding the current generation of heavily branded wireless mics. Via the Insta360 app, users can upload logos, channel art, or other graphics, turning the transmitter body into a branding surface visible in frame.

Insta360 has gone with a six-color E6 E-Ink module (supporting black, white, red, yellow, blue, and green) which is notably more capable than the four-color modules found on other products. The display draws power only during screen refresh, not while holding a static image, which Insta360 says contributes meaningfully to battery life.

Audio features

Audio capture is handled by a three-microphone array, a feature absent from rivals including the DJI Mic 3, Hollyland Lark Max 2, and Rode Wireless Pro. The array enables four selectable pickup modes: omnidirectional, cardioid, figure-8, and a Voice Focus super-directional mode using adaptive beamforming to isolate a speaker within a 60-degree angle. That last mode achieves around 13 dB of off-axis suppression, and when combined with an on-camera cold shoe mount, effectively turns the Mic Pro into a compact shotgun mic without needing a dedicated unit.

NPU-powered AI noise cancellation runs on a dedicated compute chip and is available in two levels, weak and strong.

32-bit float

Internal recording goes up to 32-bit float at 48 kHz, stored on 32 GB of onboard memory. Stereo internal recording, using the three-mic array on a single transmitter, is unique to the Mic Pro among its competitors. Total recording capacity runs to around 44.8 hours in 32-bit float mono or 22.2 hours in 32-bit float stereo. Files export via USB-C directly to a computer.

The system supports up to 4 TX + 1 RX for multi-person recording with four independent audio channels, and 2 TX + 4 RX for multi-camera setups distributing audio to up to four cameras simultaneously. Timecode sync is supported, though Insta360 notes it is currently being optimized and will presumably be updated via a future firmware drop. Auto Gain Control runs in two modes: an anti-clipping automatic mode for unpredictable environments and a dynamic mode for controlled indoor recording.

Ecosystem benefits & battery life

For Insta360 camera users, Direct Connect allows the transmitter to pair wirelessly over Bluetooth SPP at 48 kHz without a receiver, with compatible models including the X5, X4 Air, Ace Pro 2, GO Ultra, and the upcoming Luna. The connection also supports remote recording start/stop and in-camera parameter adjustment.

Non-Insta360 cameras connect via 3.5 mm audio cable from the receiver, and a separately available hot shoe adapter enables 48 kHz/24-bit digital audio and four-channel output on compatible Sony bodies including the A7 IV, A7S III, FX3, and FX30.

Battery life is 10 hours per 19.7 g (0.69 oz) transmitter, 11 hours for the receiver, and 30 hours total with the charging case. A five-minute fast charge delivers around 1.5 hours of use. Wireless range is rated at 400 m (1,300 ft) in open, unobstructed conditions over its single band 2.4 GHz link; Bluetooth Direct Connect to an Insta360 camera reduces that to roughly 30-50 m (100-165 ft).

Pricing and availability

The Mic Pro launches in three configurations: the 2 TX + 1 RX kit with charging case at $329, a 1 TX + 1 RX kit at $199, and a standalone transmitter at $99.99. No shipping date has been confirmed, though with review units in circulation we would expect it to be as soon as next month.
