Threadline has added a Studio tier to its AI editing workspace, bringing a native macOS desktop app, professional codec support, multi-cam sync, and local processing to what is now a three-tier subscription model. Threadline launched publicly last month, with free and Pro tiers; Studio is the first major release since.
Threadline's USP is an intonation analysis engine that evaluates speech rhythm, cadence, pacing, and emphasis to make editorial cuts on delivery rather than at word boundaries or silence gaps.
Extended functionality
The desktop app extends pro-level functionality to accept ProRes, MXF, BRAW, and other professional formats with no per-file size limit. It generates proxies locally and uploads them automatically; Threadline works against the proxies, and XML exports map back to the original source files, producing a conform-ready timeline in the NLE against full-quality footage.
Multi-cam sync is a dedicated step within the Threadline workspace. Editors can sync multi-camera shoots, generate an AI first assembly, and export with each camera angle on its own track, mapped to original media, ready to open in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro.
Credits and pricing
Studio users receive 150 AI credits per month. Each AI generation costs 3 to 5 credits, putting the practical range at 30 to 50 first assemblies per month. Credits roll over monthly. Top-up packs are available at $35 per 50 credits.
Studio sits above the free tier and Threadline Pro ($24/mo on an annual plan). Pricing for Studio is $95/mo on an annual plan or $114/mo month-to-month. More info at threadlinestudio.io
