DJI, Insta360 and now Xtra are all fighting for your pocket. Here's how the Osmo Pocket 4P, Luna Ultra, and their rivals actually compare.
There have been few buying decisions people have had to make in recent years as complex as buying a new gimbal camera in 2026. DJI launched the Osmo Pocket 4 in April and announced that the Pocket 4P, rebadged from the Pocket 4 Pro, would be coming later in the year and feature a dual-lens design. Insta360 meanwhile launched its own pro-level dual-lens Luna Ultra in June.
Both companies are currently suing each other in the US. But that’s the only thing they have in common there as the DJI gimbal cameras are not available due to the company being on the FCC Covered List. US customers, though, do have the option of the Xtra Muse 2 Pro, which will probably be exceedingly close in spec to the Pocket 4P, and essentially be the same in all but name.
The original Xtra Muse was very very similar to the DJI Pocket 3
For those that have lost track, the table below sums up all the key data from each model. We’ve left the Muse 2 Pro entries blank for now where the company has not confirmed them specifically, but you would expect most to be the same as the Pocket 4P. One of the most important, that astounding 17 stops of dynamic range, is definitely replicated.
With only two models fully released, we’ve held off summarising review sentiment so far until we get a more fully-formed picture Our own are linked below.
DJI Osmo Pocket 4 reviewed: Excellent slow motion and low light, but evolutionary not revolutionary
Insta360 Luna Ultra review: the best gimbal camera you can currently buy?
We’re also currently working on our Pocket 4P review, but DJI’s restrictions mean we aren’t able to share much about it beyond the fact that it’s an impressive piece of work. There is a slightly strange and staggered drip feed of information emerging about it, though, with the latest talk suggesting its new 50-megapixel LOFIC image sensor delivers some highly impressive image quality.
New models still to come
Meanwhile, the success of the form factor means that a whole load of new models will be jockeying for your attention soon. On our radar so far:
-
Canon has patent filings showing an auto-folding pocket gimbal camera design, positioned as a rival to both the Pocket 4 and Luna Ultra, though no launch date yet.
-
Vivo is rumored to be working on a gimbal camera, which would build on the gimbal-stabilized main sensor already in its X300 Ultra flagship phone.

-
Honor showed a "Robot" gimbal concept at MWC 2026 that embeds a miniature gimbal directly into a phone rather than a standalone pocket unit.
-
Oppo has confirmed it's building a competitor to the Pocket 4 and Luna Ultra, though reporting suggests it's behind Vivo and Honor in development.
But for now, this is what you can buy, where you can buy it, and what it is capable of. And we've put the Pocket 4 in there too as it's US availability makes it a legitimate choice for buyers there.
