Frame.io's most recent set of platform updates have focused on automation, media security, and faster search on mobile devices.
Plenty of new features for Frame.io released so far this year, with the changes mainly aimed at larger production teams handling growing volumes of media and increasingly distributed workflows.
Expanded Automation via Zapier
Frame.io’s Zapier integration has been updated to allow access to more than 50 API methods through custom calls as long as teams are using Zapier v1.3.3 or later. That means that instead of waiting for one-size-fits-all automation, teams can now:
-
Create complete project structures programmatically — workspaces, projects, folders, and team assignments — all triggered by events in other tools.
-
Update metadata at scale across multiple assets based on workflow states in connected apps.
-
Access every Frame.io resource: accounts, workspaces, projects, folders, files, shares, comments, and more.
-
Build bespoke workflows tailored to how their organization actually works.
It's useful stuff. The update also includes changes to authentication and error detection intended to improve reliability for production-critical automated workflows.
More Flexible Watermark Controls
New watermark settings allow users to toggle visibility on individual assets, adjust placement, and control how watermarks behave in review links and projects.
Whether you’re reviewing early cuts, sharing work externally, or preparing sensitive content for approval, watermarking can now be tailored more precisely to match your workflow.
For more on the subject, have a look at Frame.io Senior Product Manager Adam Whitaker's recent blog post Watermarking: You Don’t Think About It—Until You Need It, which sets out its stall nicely with the title.
Enterprise Transfers via MASV
For enterprise users, Frame.io now supports server-to-server transfers using MASV for Adobe-managed accounts.
This enables automated ingest pipelines for large media files, cloud-first production workflows across multiple teams in your organization, and security that adheres to the Adobe Admin Console governance and permissions. It also aligns transfers with existing permissions managed through the Adobe Admin Console, allowing organisations to move large volumes of content without manual intervention.
Smarter Search on iOS
As the company says, finding the right shot shouldn’t have to wait until you’re back at your desk. Frame.io has also introduced improved mobile search capabilities powered by media intelligence. The system can surface assets using metadata, filenames, and other indexed information, making it easier to locate clips when working away from a desktop workstation.
