Everything we know about the DJI Osmo 360 II (so far)

DJI teased the Osmo 360 II hours after Insta360 confirmed the X6. Here's every confirmed spec, leak, and rumor so far ahead of the August 13 launch, including confirmed user-replaceable lenses.

In keeping with the current beef between the two companies, no sooner had Insta360 confirmed its next-gen 360 camera, the Insta360 X6, than DJI mounted a spoiler operation announcing its own, the DJI Osmo 360 II.

The rumor mill has been running a lot slower on this model and we know less about it than the widely leaked X6. That somewhat suggests that DJI has been reactive to the Insta360 launch rather than following its own (often leaky) schedule.

DJI Osmo 360 II timeline

December 2025: An FCC filing for a camera referred to as "Osmo 360 2" surfaced, the first solid sign of a successor.

Mid-July 2026: Prototype leaks (via leaker Igor Bogdanov) showed a bigger battery and NFC support.

7 August 2026: DJI teases the camera on Instagram and its Hong Kong site, and opens ‘soft’ pre-orders in China at 8:00 pm local time the same day. This is a "notify me" style sign-up rather than a paid pre-order, and no pricing has been announced for any market yet nor detailed specs posted.

13 August 2026, 12:00 UTC: Official launch date, confirmed by DJI on its Hong Kong teaser page, tagged "All Angles. All Epic.”

Confirmed specs

Judging from the footage shown so far, the design of the DJI Osmo 360 II is an evolution not a revolution and features the same general body shape and square-sensor layout as the original.

The biggest confirmed news is the presence of user-replaceable lenses, which addresses the original's biggest weak point when measured up against the Insta360 X5 and GoPro Max 2. These have proved to be very popular with users, so this falls into the ‘not surprising but welcome anyway’ category.

Elsewhere, there will be a larger battery: 2150 mAh, up from 1950 mAh on the original Osmo 360, roughly a 10% increase. It will also feature 27 W USB-C fast charging and retain the same WiFi 6 and Bluetooth connectivity as the first model.

Widely leaked but not confirmed

As far as we know, the DJI Osmo 360 II uses the same 1/1.1-inch CMOS sensor and optical design, suggesting the imaging pipeline itself is not changing much. Treat this with some caution, as it looks like the leakers were wrong when it came to the X6 sensor size. History could repeat itself here.

Video spec is rumored to be bumped up though, suggesting changes on the processing side. 8K60 is expected by many, a slight increase over the 8K50 of the first gen.

Unclear or unconfirmed

There are questions over whether HDR or RAW photo modes will be included this time round, and no clear indication if the original’s storage (105 GB internal) or stills ability (120 MP) will be improved on. Given the current price of storage, we’d doubt if that will increase, however.

Pricing and availability are also very much up in the air. The original Osmo 360 launched in the approximate $450 to $580 range, depending on bundle, so expect the II to land close to that. But, given the fierce rivalry between the two companies, it’s even possible that DJI will adjust its plans to ensure it undercuts what Insta360 prices the X6 at when it launches the day before.

We’re also unsure whether the DJI Osmo 360 II will follow a ‘China, then rest of world’ release model or be global from the start. Given the sheer shenanigans that attended the release of the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P, anything is possible. We will, sadly, be very surprised if it makes it to the official US market.
