Sony FX5 faces further delays until October

Sony's FX5 cinema camera looks to be slipping down the schedules again with multiple Sony sites in Europe now listing its release date as October 16

Sony's own direct-to-consumer sites in multiple European countries, including the UK, France and Spain, are now listing 16 October as the ship date for the Sony FX5. This is actually the first precise release date from the company itself since its 18 August notice said the launch would be "postponed due to production issues" with no new date given.

Adorama had listed 15 September in the US for release, while Foto Erhardt in Germany had put shipping as late as 28 September. Both of these dates now look to be superseded.

Sony has not issued a fresh statement to accompany the latest schedule. It is not yet clear whether the 16 October figure will hold, whether North American retailers will follow with a matching date, or if this is a Europe-specific date. We'll continue to track matters and update when possible.
