Beeble SwitchX: generative video transformation that keeps the subject intact

Beeble’s new SwitchX uses generative video to change the lighting, background, props, costumes, and on-screen world of a video, while keeping the subject consistent, recognizable, and intact.

Generative tools are having a moment in VFX, but Beeble reckons that its first video model, SwitchX, provides the control and consistency that others lack. “The core idea is simple: switch anything except what matters,” states the company.

In practice, SwitchX swaps backgrounds and adjusts lighting while leaving the main subject untouched.

Beeble supplies a list of use cases to highlight what it can do. These include transporting a subject into a completely new environment for a music video or campaign; turning an everyday room into a professional podcast or studio setup; relighting a scene to shift mood, time of day, or genre; and modifying props, costumes, or set elements with physically correct light interaction.

Under the hood

The workflow runs entirely within Beeble cloud. Users upload a video or image to the Beeble cloud app, following which SwitchX automatically detects the main subject (though there is also an interactive masking tool available for precise control). Next, users add a reference image to visually define the desired scene, including lighting, background, and props. Finally, SwitchX analyzes the original footage at what it claims to be pixel level, using that data to guide the generation process and ensure consistency.

Beeble claims that in just five minutes, SwitchX can produce a crisp 2K video with new lighting, background, shadows, and camera perspective, while preserving key details such as identity, facial characteristics, and audio sync.
