amaran Halo Series — Bi-Color COB Studio Lights from $119

amaran's Halo series brings five bi-color COB studio lights to market, from 63 W to 610 W, with USB-C DMX and NFC pairing, starting at $119.

amaran has launched the Halo series, a five-model family of bi-color COB studio lights aimed squarely at creators who want reliable, scalable lighting without the complexity, not to mention cost, of more advanced fixtures.

The lineup runs from the Halo 60x (63 W) up to the Halo 600x (610 W), with the 100x (100 W), 200x (200 W), and 300x (305 W) filling out the middle. The range is positioned as the bi-color counterpart to the recently launched Ray series of full-color COBs. The distinction is that where the Ray targets more demanding production workflows, the Halo is built for everyday studio use: home studios, livestream setups, and creator spaces that need consistent, straightforward light.

65% more output

Brightness is a clear step up from amaran's previous COB S generation, with up to 65% more output. This translates as the Halo 60x delivering 3270 lux at 1 m and the Halo 600x reaching 32,500 lux at 1 m, with the other fixtures falling in a range between. Controls are kept deliberately simple and analog: two knobs, one for brightness and one for color temperature, with no menu navigation required.

Color temperature across the range is  2700K–6500K, while the lights also feature CRI 96 and TLCI 97. Nine lighting effects are included:  fireworks, faulty bulb, lightning, TV, pulsing, strobe, explosion, fire, and paparazzi.

Power options split along model lines. The Halo 60x and 100x use USB-C PD, making them compatible with the amaran Peak battery series via optional accessories. The 200x, 300x, and 600x integrate the power supply into the body and run from a single AC cable, making them a good fit for permanent studio installs where cable management matters.

Added DMX

The range also introduces DMX control via USB-C on every model, making the Halo series the first amaran COB lineup to offer this across the board. An optional USB-C to 5-pin DMX In & Out Adapter is required, but the inclusion means the whole family can slot into professional console workflows without a workaround. NFC pairing with the amaran app is also built in across the lineup.

All five lights share an 85° beam angle and are compatible with amaran's softbox and modifier ecosystem via the obligatory Bowens mount, including the accessories introduced alongside the Ray series.
