The latest from the eternally fecund SmallRig development labs, the All-in-One Thermal Live Streaming & Filming Handheld Phone Cage Kit, to give it it's full name, is designed to keep your smartphone cool and operating when the temperatures rise.
Designed for long-duration livestreaming and short video shooting, the All-in-One Thermal Live Streaming & Filming Handheld Phone Cage Kit is a lightweight, integrated setup that has been designed to stop your phone overheating and tripping out.
It features a 15W High-Efficiency Cooling System that SmallRig says combines active cooling with multifunctional expansion, addressing heat dissipation and accessory mounting (lighting, microphones, power, etc.) in a single system.
Centred around a 4-in-1 USB-C Hub that consolidates charging, microphone input, audio monitoring, and data transfer, it fits most smartphones currently on the market and features a Power Bank Clamp, a 67mm threaded filter adapter for ND filters, lens hoods, and more, a rotating handle with wireless controller, a docking station, and that eye-catching cooling module.
That itself features a 7-blade fan, an aluminium heat sink, and an aluminium cold plate. The closest thing we have on performance data is in the graph below, though SmallRig has also come up with the catchphrase '1 second to cool, 10 to frost'.
No word on noise, though the weight of the full unit is approx 650 grams / 23 ounces.
Price and availability
The fully featured All-in-One Thermal Live Streaming & Filming Handheld Phone Cage Kit costs $149. A cut-down version is available without the handles and simply a 2-in-1 USB Splitter for $59.
