Satchler releases latest generation of Ace fluid head systems

1 minute read

The newly redesigned Sachtler Ace M Mk II and Ace XL Mk II fluid heads can accomodate cameras all the way up to 17.6lbs (8kg).

The new Sachtler Ace M Mk II and Ace XL Mk II feature that trademark smooth Sachtler drag, and multi-step counterbalance.

The Ace M Mk II system offers broadcast quality camera support in a lightweight and simple system. Weighing in at 4.4kg (9.7 pounds) and able to support payloads up to 4kg (8.8 pounds), Ace Mk II systems include an aluminium tripod with carry handle and choice of spreader. The Ace M Mk II fluid head provides smooth drag adjustments and five-steps of fast counterbalance.

The Ace XL Mk II is made for heavier digital cine-style cameras and supports payloads up to 8kg (17.6 pounds) with an extra four steps of counterbalance to quickly balance larger and more accessorised rigs. The Ace XL features an illuminated level bubble plus a removable threaded stud for users to easily swap from a tripod to a slider. The head is available in a range of tripod systems.

To enhance functionality, all 75-millimetre tripods sold with Ace Mk II now feature three three-eighth inch mounting points on the tripod bowl. These mounting points allow for effortless attachment of accessories like a Magic Arm, lights, or the new Ace Carry Handle. Standard features of the Ace Mk II systems include a carry handle and carry case, and there is an additional detachable flowtech-style mid-level spreader available to enhance agility.

The Sachtler Ace Mk II fluid head range is available now from Sachtler resellers as a head only or as part of a tripod system. Pricing varies as a result, but as a ballpark, you can pick up the Sachtler Ace M Fluid Head with 2-Stage Aluminum Tripod & Mid-Level Spreader for $599 while the Ace XL Mk II will set you back $655.
