The new Saramonic Air dual-channel 2.4 GHz wireless microphone system features intelligent noise cancellation, a discreet 9.7 mm lavalier microphone, real-time monitoring, and adjustable EQ tuning.
The new Saramonic Air is a decent looking wireless mic system that comes in at a decent entry-level price. It features two-level intelligent noise cancellation that effectively suppresses ambient sound without clipping or distortion, while Saramonic reckons that customizable EQ modes enhance vocal clarity and preserve the natural character of the voice.
A 9.7 mm lavalier microphone features a 6mm diaphragm which is 1.5× larger than standard, helping users capture everything from deep bass to crisp highs. A front-facing pickup minimises plosives, as well as delivering a cleaner on-camera look than some we have become used to of late. Saramonic's design notes say that the TX unit itself sports "a sleek retro design in galactic gray with a soft internal glow," which is less obtrusive than some but still very much there.
A built-in limiter aims to ensure audio fidelity even during dynamic vocal peaks, while a –6 dB safety track adds an extra layer of protection against unexpected spikes. The receiver features a 3.5 mm output and 1.05″ full-color TFT display for monitoring and control of noise cancellation, gain, and brightness.
A hot-shoe-compatible form factor mounts easily to cameras, which could well be handy, while the entire system remains compact enough to slip into a pocket or pouch. Transmitter weight is only 11 grams (0.39 oz)
Connectivity is via USB-C, Lightning, and 3.5 mm TRS outputs. The system supports simultaneous output to two devices—perfect for horizontal filming and vertical livestreaming in one step. The receiver powers on and off with the camera, while the transmitter can trigger phone recording with a single tap. When the setup is ready, recording begins instantly.
The compact metal charging case has a transparent lid, helping you keep tabs on charge levels.
