RØDE has announced the RØDECaster Video Core, a new addition to its video production lineup that arrives alongside RØDECaster Sync — a new integration feature that connects the console with select RØDECaster audio interfaces.
Less than four months after the RØDECaster Video S, released last November, the new RØDECaster Video Core provides a different option for video podcasters, solo creators and live streamers who are comfortable with software-driven or modular workflows. It utilizes the same octa-core processor as the flagship RØDECaster Video, but packages it into a more compact and desktop-friendly unit combining video switching, recording and streaming with an integrated professional audio mixer.
Essentially, it ditches the screen and controls of previous RØDECasters and offloads all control functions to the free RØDECaster App. It’s here that users will take care of scene building, audio mixing, graphic overlays, media playback and keying, with intelligent auto-switching based on audio inputs for hands-free source selection.
What's in the box
On the video side, the RØDECaster Video Core supports up to four video sources and five customisable scenes, with three Full HD HDMI inputs featuring auto frame rate conversion, plus a configurable HDMI output for program, preview and multi-view monitoring. Network camera support extends to four NDI inputs and one output via Ethernet, and the free RØDE Capture app for iOS turns an iPhone into a dual-camera source for wireless multi-angle streaming.

Audio is equally well-specced: two Neutrik combo jacks with RØDE's ultra-low-noise, high-gain Revolution Preamps handle XLR mics, instruments or line sources across nine stereo channels. Each channel gets APHEX processing — EQ, compressor, noise gate, high-pass filter, de-esser and the legendary Aural Exciter, Big Bottom and Compellor effects.
Other highlights include dual USB-C ports for connecting video and audio devices or simultaneously linking two computers, ISO recording to an external USB SSD, and EDL export for DaVinci Resolve.
RØDECaster Sync
The other significant announcement is RØDECaster Sync, which connects the Video Core to a RØDECaster Pro II or Duo via USB-C. The result is a unified production hub where audio and video are managed from a single surface, with expanded I/O, shared mixing and recording, and advanced switching capabilities.
RØDE pitches this as a pragmatic option for audio-first creators who want to add video without rebuilding their whole setup.
Firmware updates
RØDE is also pushing firmware updates across the wider RØDECaster range. For Video Series devices, these include EDL Timeline Export to DaVinci Resolve, expanded webcam compatibility via MJPEG/compressed UVC input, and flexible media import for non-standard resolutions including vertical and square formats.
The RØDECaster Duo gets a more substantial upgrade: its total audio channel count increases from seven to nine, matching the Pro II, and wireless inputs no longer displace combo inputs so that XLR and wireless sources can run simultaneously.
Pricing and availability
The RØDECaster Video Core is available to pre-order now at $599 with shipping promised by April 20. Firmware updates for supported consoles are available immediately through the RØDECaster App. More information at rode.com.
