RØDE's LPA1 low-profile studio arm keeps the mic stand out of shot

RØDE's LPA1 studio arm carries 2 kg (4.4 lb) and reaches 750 mm (29.5 in). It costs $139 and ships now in black.

After trailing it at NAB, RØDE has officially announced the LPA1, a low-profile studio arm designed to mount microphones and other studio equipment into various recording, broadcasting or video podcast setups.

The idea is that with a compact, low-profile form, the LPA1 sits below the camera's line of sight, which RØDE says keeps the frame clear and the microphone close to the source.

A beefy 2 kg (4.4 lb) payload capacity, thanks in part to an all-metal construction, makes the LPA1 RØDE's highest-capacity studio arm, supporting end-address and side-address microphones from dynamic microphones up to large-diaphragm condensers.

It features a horizontal reach of 750 mm (29.5 in) and vertical adjustment of 90° up and 60° down. A 360-degree arm articulation and an integrated ball-mount design allow for positioning above or below desk level. Thread options across 1/4", 3/8", and 5/8" mounts ensures compatibility across microphones, cameras, lights, and accessories.

Integrated cable management, meanwhile, keeps XLR and USB cables routed along the arm and out of sight. The arm mounts to desks up to 70 mm (2.8 in) thick with the included clamp.
