Avid has released Pro Tools 2026.11, adding a third-party Extensions format and an AI Stem Separator. MPE support and Windows High DPI scaling also arrive.

Avid has released Pro Tools 2026.11, which adds a new plugin format called Pro Tools Extensions, an AI-powered Stem Separator, MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE), and Windows improvements.

Extensions add third-party tools

Unlike traditional AAX plugins, which operate on individual tracks, Extensions can support processes spanning multiple tracks or entire sessions. They are accessed from the Pro Tools Edit window. Partners at launch include Pro Sound Effects and Soundly (sound effects libraries), Forte (track importing, organization, and delivery), and Pibox (collaboration and feedback). The existing Splice and SoundFlow integrations from 2025 will also be available as Extensions, including their AI-enabled capabilities.

AI Stem Separator

The Pro Tools Stem Separator Extension separates recordings into up to six stems: vocals, drums, bass, guitar, keys, and other. It works without exporting files to external applications or uploading audio to cloud services. Users drag audio into the Extension, preview the stems, and bring them back into the session as individual tracks. It is included at no additional cost with all versions of Pro Tools, including the free Pro Tools Intro.

MPE and Windows updates

MPE lets individual notes respond independently to gestures such as pressure and pitch movement, whereas in conventional MIDI changes like pitch bend typically affect multiple notes at once. It requires compatible controllers and virtual instruments, and also allows real-time manipulation of timbre, filters, and effects.

On Windows, the release adds High DPI support for 2K, 4K, and 8K monitors, per-monitor scaling, enhanced compatibility scaling, and improved dark theme support for title bars, menus, and common dialogs. Playlist Clip Color Coding gives consistent colors across tracks for different takes.

Availability and upgrades

Pro Tools 2026.11 is available now to Pro Tools Artist, Studio, and Ultimate subscribers, perpetual license holders with an active upgrade plan, and Pro Tools Intro users. All major new enhancements are supported across Pro Tools versions, including the 30-day trial. More information is at www.avid.com/pro-tools.
