Jesse Calis from JeCal Productions reviews the OBSBOT Tail 2, a 4K AI-powered PTZR camera that promises fast subject tracking, smooth framing, native 9:16 capture, and flexible shooting for creators.

We've covered the OBSBOT Tail 2 already when highlighting its Black Friday offer this year. But this is a PTZR camera that's about rather a lot more than a Black Friday discount as Jesse Calis from JeCal Productions highlights in his review video below.

OBSBOT Tail 2 Capsule Review

A quick summary of the above.

The Tail 2 shoots 4K up to 60fps and Full HD up to 120fps. It has a 1/1.5-inch 50-megapixel sensor, which delivers a lot of detail, especially in well-lit environments. It features 5× optical zoom and up to 12× hybrid zoom (though it's worth noting that anything above 5× introduces some quality loss). It also includes AI-powered tracking and auto-framing that can follow people, objects, or defined paths.

Setup is straightforward. You download the OBSBOT app and connect your phone via Wi-Fi. From there, you can monitor the feed, change settings, and control the camera. A physical controller is also included if you prefer using that instead of the app.

"For me, what makes this camera special is the object tracking," says Jesse. You can track almost anything — people, cars, objects — simply by selecting it in the app. You can choose slower or faster tracking depending on the motion to avoid jitter. "I put a track on myself when I first tried it out, and then I closed my phone, but the camera was still on and it still kept tracking me wherever I was moving.

"For me, it was a joy to use," he concludes.

Price and Availability

The OBSBOT Tail 2 has a normal list price of $1199, but is down to $999 via the OBSBOT Official Store and Amazon for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
