It's time for another news roundup. This week we have new lenses from Fujifilm, new KOMODO batteries, and ProRes RAW on the GFX100S.

Fujifilm Unveils Three New Lenses

Fujifilm made a splash with a dual-camera announcement, including the 102 megapixel monster GFX100 and the retro-designed X-ER. The company also revealed three new lenses. They include the XF 27mm f/2.8 WR pancake lens (which can be bundled with the X-ER), the XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 zoom lens, and the GF 80mm f/1.7 R WR medium-format lens.

The XF 27mm F/2.8 is a fast little prime lens aimed at, weighing only 3 ounces (84 grams), and is a pretty good addition to compatible Fujifilm cameras (APS-C sensor). It's less than 2.5 inches in diameter (62mm) and is less than an inch long (23mm). It earns its pancake lens name.

The f-stop ranges from f/2.8 to f/16, features 7 elements in 5 groups, and is designed to minimize image distortion and other possible issues. The lens will cost $400 USD (about £295) and will be available in March 2021. Learn more here.

Fujifilm also introduced the XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 zoom lens, and features optical image stabilization (OIS), 17 elements in 12 groups, and while not as fast, it's still a great addition to Fujifilm's X Series.

The lens is priced at $800 USD ( less than £583), and weighs around 1.27 pounds (580 g) with a diameter of less than 3 inches (75mm). It'll be available in March 2021. Find out more here.

And finally, the GF 80mm f/1.7 R WR is Fujifilm's new medium-format prime lens — they says it's the world's first — and it's very, very fast. The lens weighs about 1.75 pounds (795 g) and has a filter size of 77mm. In addition, it has 12 elements in 9 groups and is precision-built to deliver great bokeh while minimizing spherical aberration.

The lens will cost $2300 USD (less than £583), and like the other two lenses, will be available for purchase in March 2021. Get more details here.

Atomos Introduces 4Kp30 12-Bit ProRes RAW Support for the Fujifilm GFX100S via Ninja V

It's no surprise that Atomos has already unveiled support for the Fujifilm GFX100S. As hot new cameras come out, it's ready with ProRes RAW support. With the GFX100S, pairing up the Ninja V monitor-recorder via HDMI will give cinematographers and videographers the option for 4Kp30 12-bit ProRes RAW video.

Having the 12-bit ProRes RAW support allows for greater filming options which is perfect for when it comes to post-production. Atomos and Fujifilm are promising a firmware update that will give white balance and ISO support, which arrives by the summer of 2021. Learn more about the Atomos Ninja V here.
