Insta360's Flow 2 boasts a good proportion of the features found in this year's Flow 2 Pro but at a $50 lower price, and the company has also released its first wireless mic.
The Flow 2 Pro dropped in January this year, and brought a range of decent new features to the low end of the gimbal market for what looked a reasonable $159 price. The Flow 2 undercuts that even further, shaving $50 off the price while keeping a goodly amount of the v2 model's features.
As the video above shows, Insta360 is positioning the Flow 2 as "your everyday gimbal." Certainly it's got a lot of features even for its cut-down pricing, including built-in 3-axis stabilization, NFC One-Tap Shooting, a sturdy selfie stick and tripod, Deep Track 4.0, Multi Person Tracking and Active Zoom Tracking, and a 10-hour battery life.
Here's a handy little table that shows how all that stacks up against the Flow 2 Pro.
Users can also control it via Apple Watch or a second smartphone, while Android users get an optional Quick Launch setting in the Insta360 app that automatically opens the native phone camera when they unfold the gimbal.
Insta360 Flow 2 pricing and availability
The Insta360 Flow 2 costs $109 for the Standard Bundle, or $129 for the AI Tracker Bundle, and is available as of now. Key specs at the bottom of the article, but first we need to talk quickly about the Mic Air.
Insta360 Mic Air
The Insta360 Mic Air is the company's first wireless microphone. About the size of an Apple AirTag, it's one of the lightest wireless mics on the market, coming in at a mere 7.9 grams (0.28 oz), and offers direct pairing with Insta360 products such as the Insta360 X5.
Features include:
- Magnetic clip for easy mounting on clothing.
- Remote control to start/stop recording, toggle noise reduction and mute/unmute.
- 48kHz/24-bit audio with built-in noise reduction and a removable windshield for clearer sound.
- Compatible with X5, Ace Pro 2, Flow Series, smartphones and more.
The new mic cannot be directly paired with the Flow 2, so users will need the 1x TX and 1x RX version and connect the receiver to a smartphone in this instance. But, given the new teleprompter feature in the Insta360 app, the extra $20 spend possibly seems worthwhile. It also opens up compatibility with a whole host of devices not in the Insta360 ecosystem.
Insta360 Mic Air pricing and availability
The Insta360 Mic Air is priced at $49, with the 1 TX + 1 RX Bundle available for $69. Both are available now.
