IBC starts two weeks today, so we thought it was a good time to comb through the previews we’ve had in so far about the show. Looks like there’s plenty going on…
IBC2025 promises to be a busy one, and we already have a bunch of stuff announced and/or previewed ahead of the show kicking off at the RAI on September 12. Given the flurry of NDA briefings taking place next week, there's going to be plenty of news dropping just before the show opens too. Here are some of the highlights so far.
Marshall CV355-27X-ND3
The new Marshall CV355-27X-ND3 utilizes a professional-grade 8.5-megapixel sensor to capture HD video at 60fps with support for all HD formats. It features a 27x optical zoom block that offers an extensive zoom range from 5.56 mm to 150 mm, starting at 60 degrees all the way out to 3.2 degrees horizontal angle-of-view for maintaining image crispness from ultra-wide to long telephoto shots. And, as the name also suggests, it also includes the NDI (NDI HX2, NDI HX3) video-over-IP protocol, allowing for high-quality, low-latency video to be transferred over a standard IP network.
NUGEN Audio Reverb Map
Inspired by the brand’s Paragon and Paragon ST reverb plug-ins, which were developed using a variety of recorded reverbs in real spaces, the NUGEN Audio Reverb Map is an interactive map that highlights locations across the globe that are known for having unusual acoustic characteristics. From historic tombs and cavernous concert halls to quirky modern structures and hidden urban gems, the company says it’s a useful resource for audio professionals.
More importantly, it’s available free of charge through the NUGEN Audio website, the Reverb Map offers a creative springboard for professionals seeking real-world reverberation profiles to use during field capture, or sound experimentation, and is perfect for post-production applications. The map serves as a reference tool to enrich immersive workflows and location-based audio planning.
New Signiant Mobile App
The latest version of the Signiant Mobile App enables creators to send high-quality content directly from their phones to Media Shuttle Submit portals - fast, secure, and without file compression. The company says the app supports multi-file uploads, leverages Signiant’s powerful acceleration technology, and delivers a clean, mobile-native experience designed for life in the field.
The company will also be showcasing its capture RAW-to-Cloud workflow using the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K camera. As the camera rolls, 8K RAW files can transfer in real time - even while recording - to both on-set and cloud destinations. Once in the cloud, users can access footage and metadata instantly via Media Engine and take advantage of patented proxyless playback to view the original file in a standard web browser - no specialised tools or downloads required.
Pro Tools 2025.6
Amsterdam marks the IBC debut of Pro Tools 2025.6, featuring the powerful Splice integration, AI speech-to-text, MIDI enhancements, plugins with Cargo Cult and Non-Lethal Applications – and new interoperability with Avid Media Composer. Talking of which, in another IBC debut Media Composer and NEXIS storage now run cloud-natively on the new Avid on AWS production framework. Avid estimates this can help post houses cut operational costs by as much as 40%, and it’s already in use by Amazon MGM Studios.
The company also reckons it’ll have new automation and AI tools on show to help editors work faster and save hours on mundane tasks. That encompasses new open APIs, customization features, and more on Avid’s growing partner ecosystem – powered through hundreds of plug-and-play Media Composer tools and partners such as Traco.ai, Flawless, Digital Nirvana and Streamwell.
Proton PIO-E
Proton Camera Innovations will introduce a new hardware accessory for its miniaturised camera ecosystem: the Proton PIO-E. Developed in direct response to customer demand for enhanced camera management and remote access workflows, the PIO-E brings IP and Bluetooth control to the full range of its compact broadcast-grade minicams.
It’s a compact, lightweight device measuring just 22 x 27 x 60 mm (0.87 x 1.06 x 2.36 in), 66 mm (2.6 in) with Hirose connector, and weighing 60g / 2.1 oz. It provides 100 Mbit Ethernet connectivity with PoE support and converts IP or Bluetooth data to the RS-485 communication protocol for flexible, futureproof integration. Offering compatibility with Cyanview’s systems and automatic network discovery within Proton's proprietary software, the PIO-E enables remote camera control across multi-camera installations, powering and managing multiple Proton units through a single interface. Power delivery of 12V/1A allows for streamlined cabling and configuration, while Bluetooth integration adds further convenience for quick field deployment, something that will be enhanced yet further with the addition of the forthcoming Proton Bluetooth applications.
European debuts from DPA
DPA Microphones will have some of the gear that it’s unveiled elsewhere in the world on show, notably at CES and NAB, and hopefully some fresh stuff as well. The patent-pending CORE+ by DPA Technology has been making waves during the year, eliminating the non-linearities typically generated by the membrane and electronic components to effectively neutralize distortion across the entire dynamic range. Then there’s the N-Series Digital Wireless Microphone System, DPA’s own entry into the fecund and fast-moving wireless world, and the MicroLock newly engineered locking mechanism that hold out the hope of preventing all sorts of on-set calamities.
ELEMENTS GRID
Media storage specialist ELEMENTS will have GRID on display, a software-defined all-NVMe storage appliance designed for the media and entertainment industry. Built on the top-tier Ceph distributed storage platform, GRID features a compact 2U form factor, alongside 200 Gbit Ethernet connectivity to eliminate bottlenecks in high-resolution editing, rendering, and collaborative processes. IBC2025 will also see the launch of VALET, a new storage extension service designed to make managing large-scale media projects more efficient, flexible, and cost-effective.
This sounds interesting. At its core, VALET offers a seamless way to offload completed or inactive workspaces, whether from on-prem or cloud infrastructure, to a secondary location, typically cloud storage. Unlike cold storage solutions that disrupt workflows or conceal data, the company says VALET keeps everything connected to its original workspace and ready to be retrieved and reintegrated without the need for manual tracking or system juggling.
Freedman Group Supports Dante
Lastly, while not an IBC2025 specific story as such, we expect you will hear a lot more about it at the show; the Freedman Group is partnering with Audinate to bring Dante technology to its range of products. And when we tell you that the Freedman Group owns the RØDE, Mackie and Lectrosonics brands, you can see why that’s a big deal. Explainy video below.
