GoPro's first interchangeable-lens camera opens for pre-order today at $699.99, with the full spec sheet and a new monitoring app confirmed ahead of September 2 availability.
We said it might be coming soon, and indeed it is. GoPro has announced that pre-orders have just opened for the Mission 1 Pro ILS and that the new camera will be shipping worldwide on September 2.
A lot of what people will find when they unbox itis already known, but all the same it is good to get the full spec sheet confirmed. Headlines are that it pairs a new 50 MP 1" sensor with GoPro's GP3 processor and a Micro Four Thirds mount. Video tops out at 8K60, 4K240 and 1440p480, with Open Gate modes up to 8K30 and 4K120 using the full sensor. Have a look at the full specs in the table below.
It also confirms that MFT lenses must be manual focus and manual aperture, with a maximum aperture of f/4.5. There are no electronic contacts on the camera, so autofocus or electronic-aperture MFT lenses will not work.
Alongside the camera, GoPro is also confirming the details of Mission Monitor, the new free iOS and iPadOS app that turns an iPhone or iPad into an external monitor for Mission 1 Series cameras.
It adds focus peaking, focus assist, zebra pattern exposure warnings, real-time LUT preview for GP-Log2 footage, customizable shot overlays and remote start/stop control. It requires iOS 18 and arrives September 2, alongside retail availability of the camera itself.
Pricing and availability
The Mission 1 Pro ILS is available to pre-order now at $699.99, or $599.99 for existing GoPro subscribers renewing their subscription, with shipping starting next week and retail availability September 2. GoPro is also cutting $100 off the Mission 1, the excellent Mission 1 Pro and Mission 1 Pro Grip Edition for a limited time.
