Dutch videographer Jesse Calis from JeCal Productions reviews the Godox FL200R, a flexible 200-watt RGB LED panel, and is impressed with what he finds.
Jesse Calis filmed all our IBC footage for us this year, and his production company, JeCal Productions, excels at producing all sorts of video content. So, he was a natural to look at the $649 Godox FL200R for us.
We liked the look of it when it came out alongside its 100R and 200SR sisters, and in his review Jesse also pairs it with the inflatable FA200 softbox.
“At first, the Air Softbox looks like a gimmick because you have to pump it up, but it’s actually really nice; very light and easy to bring on set,” he says.
Brightness and Performance
The panel outputs around 7000 lux at one metre (3.3 feet), which is plenty for interviews, product shots, or outdoor fill light. It runs on AC power, but you can also connect V-mount batteries, making it great for location shoots.
The full RGB controls, built-in gels, and lighting effects make it creative-friendly. A CRI of 95 ensures accurate colour rendering, especially important for interviews and skin tones.
When paired with the FA200 Air Softbox, the 60×60 cm panel produces what jessa says is a beautifully soft and flattering light that’s perfect for corporate videos or talking-head setups. Without the softbox, it becomes a harder, punchier source. Switching between the two gives you flexibility depending on the look you need.
Godox FL200R Verdict
After a few weeks of use he's impressed, reckoning the Godox FL200R is bright, portable, and truly flexible. He says it’s a great option for anyone looking for a soft, colour-accurate LED that can handle a wide variety of setups — from interviews to product shoots.
For the price, Jesse also reckons it's an excellent investment, especially for videographers who need one light that can do it all.
“Overall, the panel is really nice," he concludes. "Very light, flexible, and a great addition to any videographer’s kit.”
