Flanders Scientific has put GaiaColor Analyzer into beta firmware for DM Series monitors. Pomfort Livegrade 7.2 also adds independent four-camera LUT control to XMP monitors.
Two new advances from Flanders Scientific at IBC as the company continues to bed into its new home at Atomos.
GaiaColor Analyzer
First up, GaiaColor Analyzer is now available for DM Series monitors via free beta firmware.
Combined with GaiaColor AutoCal, the two tools calibrate and verify supported XMP, XMP C and DM Series monitors using a connected measurement probe, without an external computer or calibration software.
AutoCal handles calibration: with a supported probe connected to the monitor, it displays measurement patches while the probe records the display's native performance. That data builds a volumetric characterization stored directly on the monitor, from which calibrated LUTs are generated and applied automatically for supported combinations of gamut, EOTF, color temperature and luminance.
Analyzer, meanwhile, handles verification. Using the same probes as AutoCal, it checks ongoing performance without altering the existing calibration, measuring the monitor's current output against the reference standard for its active configuration. A check takes about 60 seconds and produces an on-screen report with pass/fail summaries and detailed measurements, viewable in dark mode on-screen or light mode for printing. The two most recent reports are stored on the monitor and can be exported as PDF through FSI's free IP Remote Utility.
GaiaColor Analyzer is available now via free firmware update for XMP and XMP C Series monitors, and free beta firmware for DM Series monitors. Measurement probes are sold separately.
Four-camera live grading via Pomfort Livegrade 7.2
Flanders Scientific and Pomfort have also added four-camera live grading to XMP monitors via Pomfort Livegrade 7.2, giving independent LUT control for up to four SDI camera feeds on a single FSI XMP Series monitor.
Each camera can be assigned its own look in Livegrade, with LUT processing performed inside the monitor rather than through external LUT boxes. All four processed feeds can be viewed simultaneously in the monitor's quad-view mode, or switched to full-screen for closer evaluation of one input.
Each LUT channel also has its own dedicated processed monitor output, so all four graded images are available both on screen and from their respective outputs for downstream monitors. The XMP monitor retains its four clean loop-through outputs, giving eight SDI outputs in total.
Livegrade connects to the monitor over a network connection and stores each channel's LUT in the corresponding monitor LUT position. Quad-view operation supports four signals of the same frame rate without external genlock synchronization.
FSI points out that this reduces the equipment and cabling needed for multi-camera live grading, with a single XMP monitor serving as reference display, four-channel LUT processor and source for independently graded downstream feeds. This makes it very well suited to DIT carts, mobile productions and space-constrained sets.
