Eddie AI's v4 update adds native Avid and Blackmagic Cloud handoff, C2PA content credentials, and generative music, voiceover and b-roll tools. It's also training a much smaller, promising on-prem model.
Eddie AI has launched version 4 of its AI-assisted editing platform, which brings a fair few new features into the mix
The first category of newness is on the workflow side. Eddie AI can now be reached from a user's edit suite, browser, phone, or directly inside ChatGPT or Claude, with edits playing back using real frames from the source footage.
Version 4 adds native handoff to more of the professional NLE stack: a new Avid Media Composer extension, delivery straight into Adobe Premiere Productions with media placed automatically, and integration with Blackmagic Cloud that builds bins, reels and markers inside a user's own cloud-based Resolve project.
Existing native Premiere (.prproj) and Resolve (.drp) project export, along with FCPXML round-tripping for Final Cut Pro, carries forward. Exports reconnect to original camera files rather than proxies.
For multicam and podcast production, Eddie AI now syncs cameras automatically by audio or timecode, cuts to a separate sound recorder's audio rather than camera scratch tracks, and labels angles by face and name. Angle changes made in Eddie AI survive into the NLE export.
Footage ingest now covers BRAW, spanned R3D clips, MXF, Nikon N-RAW, and stills or audio-only files, sourced from Google Drive, Dropbox, Frame.io, iconik, LucidLink or YouTube, or imported directly from a Premiere project, Resolve media pool, or FCPXML.
Team features include shared workspaces with pooled credits, frame-level review comments, share links with per-link sign-in requirements and revocation, Slack and Microsoft Teams integration, and Enterprise SSO.
Generative features
There are new generative features as well, of course. These include original music composition, voiceover generation and dubbing into other languages, and automatic audio mixing. B-roll handling now extends beyond stock search to generated b-roll and full b-roll sequences built as finished pieces rather than simple cutaways. Motion graphics templates, a persistent brand kit for fonts and colors, word-level karaoke-style captions, and face-tracking vertical reframing are also new.
A new customization layer lets users attach reference material (a script, paper edit, brand guidelines, reference faces or video) as Backgrounders, build and publish custom "Editor agents" (including a marketplace with five director agents from Eddie AI itself), save repeatable workflows as Recipes, and roll back to any saved version of a cut with length control.
Version 4 also adds HIPAA compliance for healthcare and clinical use, C2PA content-credential signing so broadcasters can verify footage provenance, and private cloud or on-premises deployment for facilities that cannot let footage leave the building.
Talking of which, the company is also training its own editing model, EddieEditor1-9B, designed to run fully on-prem. It is not yet powering live edits, but the company cites early blind tests in which editors preferred its cuts to a model 300 times its size 47% of the time.
