DJI Mic Mini 2 launches with swappable covers and a big price cut

DJI's second-generation compact wireless mic adds magnetic colour covers and voice tone presets, and undercuts its predecessor's launch price by nearly 40%.

DJI has launched the Mic Mini 2, its second-generation compact wireless microphone system, adding interchangeable magnetic front covers, three voice tone presets, and a significantly lower price than the original.

The transmitter weighs 11 g (0.39 oz) and features a detachable, rotatable magnetic clip. Audio specs carry over from the first generation: 48 kHz, 24-bit recording, automatic limiting, five-level gain adjustment, two-level noise cancellation (Basic and Strong), and dual-track recording via the DJI Mimo app.

New to the second generation unit are three voice tone presets — Regular/Normal, Rich, and Bright — for on-device EQ without post-processing. Also new, the front cover system uses interchangeable magnetic panels. Obsidian Black and Glaze White covers ship as standard, with other colors available separately as an eight-color set.

A Time Series collection designed by illustrator Victo Ngai, featuring four designs named Dawn, Surge, Blaze, and Glimmer, is sold separately. Expect a third party ecosystem to spring up fairly quickly, possibly even offering bespoke designs. 

The charging case holds the transmitter, receiver, and accessories together. A mobile version of the case is available for smartphone-focused setups. Transmission range reaches up to 400 m (1,310 ft) with the standard receiver and up to 300 m (985 ft) with the mobile receiver. Transmitter and receiver battery life runs to 11.5 and 10.5 hours respectively; a fully charged case extends total runtime to 48 hours. Five minutes of charging gives approximately one hour of use.

DJI ecosystem connectivity

The Mic Mini 2 is compatible with the existing DJI Mic Mini Receiver, which can pair with both Mic Mini and Mic Mini 2 transmitters. The DJI Mic Series Mobile Receiver also supports the Mic 3, Mic Mini, and Mic Mini 2. Via DJI OsmoAudio Direct Connection, up to two Mic Mini 2 transmitters can connect directly to the Osmo Pocket 3, Osmo 360, Osmo Nano, and Osmo Action 6 without a separate receiver.

Pricing and availability

The Mic Mini 2 is available in the following combinations.

• DJI Mic Mini 2 (2 TX + 1 RX + Charging Case): £89 / from €89
• DJI Mic Mini 2 (1 TX + 1 Mobile RX + Charging Case): £49 / from €54

Individual color covers and Time Series covers are sold separately. DJI already promises that a Mic Mini 2S with internal recording and 4TX + 1RX capability is due later this summer.

Two things are worth pointing out here. First, there is no US pricing or official availability. FCC filings for both the Mic Mini 2 and Mic Mini 2S appeared earlier in 2026 but have since been pulled from the database. Second, these prices are significantly lower than when the original Mic Mini launched in November 2024 at £145.
