Canon Cinema EOS Firmware Updates Now Available for C400, C80, C70 & R5 C
1:11

Back in September, alongside the launch of the EOS C50, Canon promised firmware updates for existing Cinema EOS cameras. These have just been released.

While Canon said in September that the latest firmware releases for the existing Cinema EOS camera range were 'significant', it did rather bury the announcement at the bottom of its EOS C50 press release. Now they're here, it's not exactly shouting the news from the rooftops either, but they are definitely worthwhile.

Highlights include:

  • The addition of 3:2 Open Gate RAW Recording at 6000 x 4000 resolution to the EOS C400 at 29.97P/23.98P/25.00P/24.00P
  •  View Assist during Playback on the EOS C80, EOS C70, & EOS R5 C
  • Optimized Focus peaking to reduce interference from noise at high sensitivity settings on all cameras.
  • Improved responsiveness of Joystick-driven AF Frame movement (EOS C400 & EOS C80)
  • Addition of assignable buttons menu function (EOS C400 & EOS C80)
  • Change LUT during playback (C400 & C70)
