Just in case you were looking for an excuse to buy a new iPhone, the new Blackmagic Camera ProDock adds connections for timecode, genlock, external audio, USB-C disks for recording, and more for iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max users.
The new Blackmagic Camera ProDock works with the Blackmagic Camera app to add support for external timecode, genlock, audio, SSD recording and more to the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.
Basically it adds all the connections users need to build a custom rig. It also supports the high-end features available via the Blackmagic Camera app for iPhone like ProRes RAW and genlock. Mobile Filmmaking Connections

Genlock via professional BNC connections makes it possible to keep all devices in perfect sync. Not only does it prevent issues such as dropped frames, it also lets customers shoot LED walls without distracting flickering or tearing, which is more than useful for virtual production. And, of course, when customers are shooting with multiple cameras, timecode allows each camera to start and stop recording independently. Keeping it in the Blackmagic ecosystem, DaVinci Resolve then uses the recorded timecode to sync the shots from all cameras so filmmakers don't need to waste time sorting and manually aligning thousands of shots.
The ProDock features 3x USB-C ports for lens and camera control accessories, and high-speed external SSDs for recording. The power management system ensures everything can run at the same time, while also powering the iPhone. There are also 3.5mm connections for microphones and headphones, and a full-size HDMI output for on-set monitoring.
One of the big criticisms levelled at productions making a noise about shooting in iPhone such as 28 Years Later has always been that the iPhone needs to be at the centre of a fairly specialised and heavy rig. The good news is that building one of those just got that much easier.
