Blackmagic Design @ NAB 2023: Resolve 18.5 joins new cameras and switchers

1 minute read

Video: Blackmagic Design had a typically full slate of new products for NABShow 2023, from the new Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF, to powerful AI tools embedded in Resolve, to new live production switchers.

Stuart Ashton is EMEA Managing Director for Blackmagic Design, and your guide for some of the highlights on the Blackmagic booth at NAB 2023. Inevitability we start with the new Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF, and how that addition of a high-performance optical low-pass filter provides some of the crucial capabilities that the market was looking for.

Resolve 18.5 comes next, and Stuart is honest enough to admit that the software's popularity puts pressure on Blackmagic to deliver. "With 18.5 I don't think we disappoint," he says, "with 150 new features including a number of features that work with our neural engine and are based around AI that really move the product to that next level again."

Resolve's audio to text edit enables you to create an edit by highlighting text in an AI created transcription, for instance, as well as create and edit subtitles. Then there's the ability to relight scenes in post by creating a depth map of a scene, remote monitoring, and a whole lot more.

For all that, and enhancements to the company's range of live production switchers, have a look below.
