Blackmagic Camera 8.5.1 released

1 minute read

The formal release of what was the Blackmagic Camera 8.5 Public Beta for Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2 has just hit the servers with support for Blackmagic Cloud workflows and direct uploads to DaVinci Resolve projects.

The Blackmagic Camera software was last updated at the end of November, so it’s unsurprising to see a fair amount of new features crammed into the new Blackmagic Camera 8.5.1.

As well as support for Blackmagic Cloud workflows and direct uploads to DaVinci Resolve projects, this update also adds a media pool file browser and proxy recording for Blackmagic RAW and ProRes. In addition, this update reduces SDI output latency, adds support for SRT streaming protocol and support for REST control API. Elsewhere there are also selective tally color settings for Blackmagic URSA Studio Viewfinder and Blackmagic URSA Studio Viewfinder G2.

There are also plenty of fixes for issues identified during the Blackmagic Camera 8.5 Beta phase, including general Blackmagic Cloud improvements, better pixel recalibration, more reliable data tethering with some Google Pixel phones, as well as improved H.265 and H.264 AV synchronization at 50, 59.94 and 60p on SDI out.
