Audiotonix has announced an agreement to acquire three pioneering microphone and wireless audio companies: DPA Microphones, Wisycom, and Austrian Audio.
Consolidation at the top-end of the audio industry in the face of growing Chinese competition continues with the announcement of a deal for Audiotonix to acquire three companies synonymous with microphone and wireless audio: DPA Microphones, Wisycom, and Austrian Audio. While acquiring three companies at once seems ambitious, DPA and Austrian Audio had already merged in 2025.
The acquisition is now being filed for regulatory approval and Audiotonix hopes that everything will be completed in H1 2026.
If all proceeds as planned, the three brands will go on to join the increasingly Brobdingnagian Audiotonix brand portfolio of audio technology and solutions companies. The current list includes Allen & Heath, Calrec, DiGiCo, DiGiGrid, Fourier Audio, Group One Limited, Harrison, JH Audio, KLANG:technologies, Slate Digital, Solid State Logic, sonible, and Sound Devices.
European Audio Expertise

The acquisitions represent a whistle-stop tour of European audio expertise. DPA Microphones brings more than 60 years of Danish microphone design, supplying products across live sound, theatre, film, and installation. Italy’s Wisycom specializes in wireless audio and RF solutions for broadcast, live events, corporate production, and location sound. Austrian Audio, based in Vienna, manufactures microphones, headphones, and related audio tools, drawing on the city’s long acoustics and engineering heritage.
James Gordon, CEO of Audiotonix, said the acquisitions align with ongoing development work within the group, particularly around Sound Devices and wireless integration. He described adding Wisycom as a logical step, followed by expanding further into microphones and moving closer to the performer through DPA and Austrian Audio.
Kalle Hvidt Nielsen, CEO of DPA Microphones, said the three companies share many of the same high-end professional customers as Audiotonix’s existing brands, and that the combination should strengthen the group’s ability to deliver premium solutions for demanding production environments.
It will be interesting to keep tabs on how things develop as there is a spectrum of possibilities. These start with shared resources as the most basic benefit, progress through technical integration, and end with a full-on end-to-end audio ecosystem from capture to console and beyond. Either way, Audiotonix has a track record of keeping brands intact and focused on their core markets, so don't expect any of the new names to disappear
