The impressively flexible Astera SolaBulb is a 50W PAR-bulb-equivalent output that debuts with an industry-first 15°–50° zoom.
The Astera SolaBulb turned more than a few heads at IBC last week, and it's easy to see why. It's a 50W PAR-bulb-equivalent output, and that industry-first 15°–50° zoom makes it a zoomable Fresnel offerring both spot and wide-angle beam control capabilities in a single lightbulb-style practical.
Titan RGBMA LED Engine
The light delivers 96 TLCI and 5228 lux at 1 meter / 3.3 ft—while drawing just 15 Watts.
It is built around Astera’s Titan RGBMA LED Engine and has what the company says is a unique optical system that lets users rotate the front barrel to adjust the beam from soft, atmospheric glow to crisp, defined accents. The built-in PAR20 Fresnel lens provides even distribution and 'cinematic' shadow quality, while maintaining the footprint of a PAR30-style bulb.
Astera says it integrates seamlessly into practicals, lanterns, and architectural fixtures while also serving as a controllable downlight. Plus, its beam can be further shaped with the included SolaSnoot accessory to help reduce spill and manage contrast without added weight.
Talking of which, it weighs 433 g / 0.955 lbs. It also features IP44 rainproof protection for flexibility in deployment.

Control Options
Built-in LumenRadio CRMX and Bluetooth help to ensure integration with industry-standard consoles, while the AsteraApp offers monitoring and adjustable settings across multiple units. A built-in ON/OFF button aids quick pairing and preset selection. SolaBulb follows established NYX Bulb setup procedure and is fully compatible with Astera’s available PowerStation for external display and portable battery capabilities.
Pricing and Availability
The SolaBulb is available in E27, E26, and B22 fixtures and is priced at around $149. They should be available next month. A SolaBulb Kit with 8x SolaBulbs, 8x SolaSnoots, and 1 PowerStation with charger is also going to launch at the same time, price TBA (though you'd expect the per unit price to be discounted). Stored in a protective plastic case, the PowerStation functions both as an external battery and as an external display.
