Accsoon has just delivered a rather useful free firmware update for its CineView M7 and M7 Pro smart monitors that introduces touchscreen camera control for select Sony and Canon mirrorless cameras.
Accsoon models have been making steady intros into the established hierarchy of the camera monitor market, and the company looks to have no intention of arresting its momentum any time soon. A free firmware update for the CineView M7 and M7 Pro monitors adds the ability to adjust focus, exposure, ISO, white balance, as well as trigger recordings directly from the monitor’s interface.
The initial release includes support for Sony A7S III, A7 IV, A9 III, FX30, FX3, A7C II; and the Canon R5, R6, R5 II, R6 II, R7, and R8 cameras. Set up is a simple process of attaching a USB-C cable to the camera and then enabling camera control in the settings menu. The monitor interface then displays icons for camera functions, each leading to different control menus/layouts and enabling record control.
Accsoon says a separate touch focus menu screen removes other UI elements to allow users to concentrate on selecting and controlling the focus point. Simply tap the screen to shift the focus point, or drag the focus box to follow the subject. This works in all autofocus zone configurations. The monitors also gain a menu option to emulate a semi-press of the shutter button for autofocus.

Users can also set the camera and monitor to trigger recordings simultaneously, after which the monitor will capture H.264/H.265 files for quick review or sharing, while the camera records higher-quality files internally. Once activated this is bi-directional, initiating recording on either device automatically triggering recording on the other.
Happily for those using Accsoon kit with other cameras, the company promises that this initial release is the first of several updates to come, saying it is committed to adding additional cameras from other makers, as well as further Canon and Sony models.
