YoloLiv has somewhat reinvigorated the top end of the streaming camera market with the impressively specced new YoloCam S7.
Apologies, we missed this when it launched a couple of weeks age, mainly due to being on holiday with our attention firmly somewhere else. But better late than never and all that, and if we had needed to stream anyone from the wild beaches of Donegal, this would have been a very good piece of kit to have used.
The YoloLiv S7 features a 4/3” Sony IMX sensor with 2.9 μm quad pixel technology. It supports ultra-sharp 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, but it's the ability to swap MFT lenses in and out that really sets it apart from the field, allowing you to capture everything from wide landscapes to close up-details. Coupled with realtime Phase Detection Auto Focus and realtime colour correction courtesy of YoloLiv's AI routines, and you should be able to get some cracking pictures out of it.
You'll be able to do that continuously too is the idea, thanks to a heat-dissipating structure and aluminum alloy design. This should mitigate against overheating and unexpected shutdowns, and provide a length of shooting that neither digital camera or smartphones can really match.
Meanwhile, Dual native ISO, 100-9600, means it should perform well in low-light conditions, capturing clear and vibrant images regardless of the lighting environment. And it has simultaneous HDMI & USB-C out, which is handy too.
It's very much a specialist unit for a specialist job. And, on paper, it appears to outperform repurposed equipment such as smartphones or standard digital cameras that were not created with streaming as their primary goal.
Price and availability
That specialism costs, of course. The YoloCam S7 is priced at $899 and it’s now available on YoloLiv official store, Amazon, B&H and from the company's local distributors and resellers around the world.
