Four Viltrox Air primes hit L-Mount, priced from $168 to $199

Viltrox has ported four full-frame Air Series autofocus primes to L-Mount, from 14mm to 50mm. All four cost between $168 and $199.

Viltrox has announced the port of its full-frame Air Series lineup over to L-Mount, including four compact autofocus prime lenses, the Viltrox AF 14mm F4.0 Air L, Viltrox AF 20mm F2.8 Air L, Viltrox AF 40mm F2.5 Air L, and Viltrox AF 50mm F2.0 Air L.

Covering focal lengths from ultra-wide 14mm to standard 50mm, the four lenses offer two distinct perspectives. According to the company, the 14mm and 20mm provide expansive views for capturing more of the scene, while the 40mm and 50mm deliver more natural, balanced perspectives for everyday photography and storytelling.

Here’s what Viltrox says about each lens.

AF 14mm F4.0 Air L

At 172 g (6.1 oz), the AF 14mm F4.0 Air L is the widest and second lightest lens in the range, with a 112.6° field of view for pulling in as much of a scene as possible. It focuses down to 0.13 m (5.1 in) for 0.23x maximum magnification, useful for getting close without losing that ultra-wide sense of space. Behind the glass is a 12-element, 9-group design with 4 ED, 2 HR, and 2 aspherical elements, aimed at keeping chromatic aberration and other distortions in check.

AF 50mm F2.0 Air L

The AF 50mm F2.0 Air L is the heaviest of the four lenses at 205 g (7.2 oz), and the the fastest of the new lineup at F2.0 for extra light-gathering ability in dim conditions. Viltrox calls it a classic focal length, and the numbers back that up: a 0.51 m (20.1 in) minimum focusing distance, 0.11x magnification, and a 13-element, 9-group design with 3 ED, 4 HR, and 1 aspherical element.

AF 20mm F2.8 Air L

The AF 20mm F2.8 Air L is pitched at photographers who still want to isolate a subject rather than just take in the whole room. It weighs 159 g (5.6 oz), focuses as close as 0.19 m (7.5 in), and manages 0.17x magnification. Its optical formula runs to 10 elements in 8 groups, including 2 ED, 1 HR, and 2 aspherical elements.

AF 40mm F2.5 Air L

The last lens is Viltrox's pick for street and travel work where the surrounding environment still matters. The AF 40mm F2.5 Air L weighs 169 g (6.0 oz) and has a 0.34 m (13.4 in) minimum focusing distance and 0.14x magnification. The 10-element, 6-group design includes 1 ED, 3 HR, and 1 aspherical element.
