Viltrox's new AF 26mm F2.8 EVO is a full-frame autofocus pancake lens for Sony E and Nikon Z mounts, priced at $299.
The latest entrant into the Viltrox EVO line is the new AF 26mm F2.8 EVO, an ultra-compact full-frame autofocus pancake lens for Sony E and Nikon Z mounts, aimed at street, travel, architecture, and everyday photography.
The lens pairs a dedicated aperture ring with a separate focus ring, giving tactile manual control. It uses precision-machined metal construction, with dust and splash resistance around the mount.
How pancake? It measures just 24 mm thick (1 in), while it weighs 130 g (4.6 oz).
A gear-type STM autofocus motor drives focusing, with a minimum focusing distance of 0.2 m (0.66 ft). The 26mm focal length gives an 81.2° angle of view, sitting between standard wide-angle and normal perspectives.
The optical design comprises 8 elements in 6 groups, including 2 aspherical elements and 1 high-refractive element. Viltrox states the lens delivers strong sharpness wide open at F2.8, with in-camera correction available for distortion.
Additional features include a magnetic front lens cap, a 43 mm filter thread, a USB-C port for firmware updates, and compatibility with the Viltrox Lens App.
