Pond5 and DJI debut new premium aerial stock footage collection

Pond5 and DJI have teamed up to bring opportunity and legitimacy to drone stock footage.

Ask any legitimately certified commercial drone pilot what their biggest problem is, and most will tell you that it is illegal operators who flaunt the law, yet somehow get away with it. It's a big problem, especially when many clients are not aware that they should be using legally certified companies.

Today, Pond5 and DJI announced the launch of the first DJI stock footage collection in a partnership that will go a long way to ensuring that commercially certified pilots will get their rewards from selling stock footage.

The partnership, which was first announced back in April, means that only commercial pilots certified by their respective countries aviation authorities will be allowed to sell footage through the scheme. Currently only FAA certified pilots are eligable, but countries outside the US will soon follow, and Pond5 are encouraging such pilots to sign up.

The ability now to to sell aerial footage on such a large stock footage site, without fear of being lost amongst hundreds of shots that have been taken illegally will be of some reassurance to existing pilots who have worked hard for their certifications.

In the press release, Pond5 CEO Jason Teichman commented "The response to our call for filmmakers using DJI drones is truly inspiring". He went on to say that "We received a wealth of aerial footage to choose from for this collection, and it’s continuing to roll in non-stop. Being able to provide our buyers with shots of this quality captured by certified pilots speaks directly to Pond5’s mission of supporting filmmakers on both sides of our marketplace, and to the passion of the artists in the DJI community."
