PolarPro Streak filters: Give your footage the anamorphic look without the lenses

1 minute read

New filters from PolarPro add stylish light streak styling to your footage without the need for anamorphic lenses.

Horizontal light flares are most certainly the trend right now. True, the look is perhaps getting a little overused, but in the right circumstances it can give a pretty neat look to things. Usually you’d need to be using an anamorphic lens to get the effect, but Polar Pro has announced two new filters that can achieve the look without them.

The new filters are available as either Goldmorphic and Bluemorphic models, which refers to the colour temperature of the light streaks produced. Not surprisingly the Bluemorphic model gives cooler hues, while the Goldmorphic warms the streaks up.

The Streak Filters are for use in the Polar Pro BaseCamp matte box system in the rotation stage. They are more configurable than most effects of this type because the filters can be rotated thus allowing you to choose which angle you’d like the lighting effect to go.

PolarPro are really expanding the BaseCamp system with useful, and tasteful additions. Its previous mist filters give a great look without making footage look like a cheesy 1980s music video.

The new filters are available to pre-order from the PolarPro website for US$149 and they will be shipping on April 10th 2021.
