Polaroid's Mod is an instant analog camera with four creative shooting modes. It costs $169 and is on sale from September 29.
Perhaps the brand most associated with instant photographs, at least historically, Polaroid has announced the Mod. This is an instant analog camera with four creative shooting modes that are selected on a dial rather than by anything as digital as a menu system.
Split Shot uses the aptly named Split Shot accessory to divide the image into two halves, both of which are exposed individually in a single frame before the accessory is rotated 180 degrees. Motion Freeze (see below) is a currently zeitgeist effect that records motion first and then fires the flash at the end of the exposure to lock in the end of the sequence. Double Exposure layers two exposures onto a single photo, as you would expect. And Light Painting uses a long exposure to capture light movement, such as a sparkler moved through the frame.
These join the standard Auto mode that just takes a classic Polaroid photo with no added effects.
The Mod has a dual-lens autofocus system with two autofocus zones, 0.40 to 1.3 m (1.3 to 4.3 ft) and 1.0 m (3.3 ft) to infinity. Basic but effective in what is very much meant to be a point-and-click device. It features six usable apertures, f/64 to f/11, and measures 16.2 x 11.0 x 9.8 cm (6.4 x 4.3 x 3.9 in), weighing in at 520 g (18.3 oz).
There is a built-in flash and a simple Brightness Dial for controlling exposure. It uses i-Type and 600 Polaroid film, which starts from $18.99 per 8-photo pack.
Instant photography is definitely having a moment right now, witness the success of everything Fujifilm is doing with its instax brand, but it's worth remembering those costs can mount up quickly...

The Polaroid Mod costs $169, €169, or £149. It is available on Polaroid.com from September 29, through selected US retailers from October 6, 2026, and through other retailers globally in early 2027.
