With Cinegear in full force this past weekend, there were more kit announcements across the board.

Teradek Serv Micro

Teradek has announced its new Serv Micro. This is an HDMI-only wireless video and production-streaming solution. With a wireless WiFi connection, this video transmitter connects with or without internet connection into 10 local devices. The cloud-enabled solution means that the production team can share their live camera feeds anywhere in the world. This will be an easy to use real-time collaboration tool that fits to any production budget.

Live streaming can be easily shared using Teradek’s Vuer app that supports iOS, Android, PC, and MacOS. If you loose your Internet connection, they are backed up to an SD card once the connection has been restored. You can access these recordings easily via Teradek Core cloud streaming platform that is compatible with iOS, Android, MacOS and other web browsers.

The Serv Micro streams at 4:2:0 8-bit 1080p at up to 30p with a maximum bitrate of up to 15Mbps. In addition to the wireless features, Serv Micro comes with HDMI, ethernet, audio input, USB type A connection for cellular bonding and it comes with a built-in L-Series battery plate.

There is no retail price yet for this product, but it will most likely be one of the most affordable options for entry-level production from the Serv series.

The Wall - Next level Micro LED Virtual Production Stage in Korea

CJ ENM and Samsung Electronics has recently opened a huge Virtual Production Stage in Paju, South Korea. Their huge Micro LED technology, called “The Wall” enables a real-time experience for faster production turnarounds and reduced compositing costs. The new custom 1000+ inch oval LED stage is said to be the world’s largest real-time virtual production stage, and no wonder - it is 20 meters wide and 7 meters tall. This means the stage achieves a total resolution of 30,720×4,320 pixels and supports HDR10 and HDR10+ standards. In addition to the wall, it comes with a IFR2.5 ceiling display which enables full 360 shooting.

New Compact Astera HydraPanel Released

A new compact Astera 25W RGBMintAmber LED light uses the Titan LED Engine. The HydraPanel has has 6 LED chips with an adjustable beam angle from 40 to 100 degrees via various light diffusers.

The Astera HydraPanel measures 166 x 85 x 43.5mm / 6.53 x 3.34 x 1.71″ for 604g/1.3lbs. It is mostly metal and IP65 rated, which makes it dust/splash-proof. It’s built-in battery runs up to 1 hour and 45 minutes at full power, according to the company. You can charge it with a5.5mm DC connector within 3 hours.

The maximum output at 5500K is 1298 lumens, and 516 lux at a distance of 1 meter. The light comes with front magnets so you can quickly switch diffusers, add a egg crate, or add extra diffusion gels for versatility. If you want to connect multiple lights together, it comes with a connector plate that can connect up to 4 figures together as one. The Astera HydraPanel comes with a multifunctioning stand - the FlexBase that attaches to the stand via cold shoe. There are two additional cold shoe mounting points at the back and at the M5 threads.

You can connect the lights with little CRMX panel, UHF, Bluetooth, and with a built-in WiFi. For adjusting colours, it comes with a control panel that can be connected to your smartphone via AsteraApp.
