HONOR's Magic9 Pro Max is the first phone to wear the ARRI badge

HONOR's flagship now carries ARRI logos on the device itself. It follows August's Robot Phone, and brings native LogC3 and ARRI Looks to a 200 MP dual-camera setup.

If being able to have a Leica badge on your phone isn’t enough, ARRI and HONOR have extended their Cinematic Imaging Partnership with the launch of the HONOR Magic9 Pro Max. Just unveiled in Munich, the new iteration of the flagship Magic9 Pro Max carries ARRI branding on the device and packaging. This is the first time the collaboration is visible at product level, and includes a miniaturized ARRI logo next to the cameras.

This follows the MWC 2026 announcement and August release of the HONOR Robot Phone earlier this year. The HONOR Magic9 Pro Max launches first in China, with more markets to follow. Pricing, in China anyway, starts at just under $1000. It's available in four configurations: 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB.

And ARRI adds...

So, what does that ARRI branding get you? Software basically. The phone integrates selected elements of ARRI Image Science across capture, color management, real-time preview, and finishing. That means native ARRI LogC3 recording in ARRI Wide Gamut 3 color space, and 14 preset ARRI Looks for real-time preview, all of which will help preserve more usable highlight, shadow, and color information from video captured with the device for post-production. The ARRI Look Library offers 87 predefined creative color gradings.

In ARRI CINEMA Mode, the system supports recording at up to 4K60, and brings key controls, including resolution, frame rate, shutter, ISO, white balance, focus, lens selection, aspect ratio, stabilization, exposure compensation, audio presets, and display mode, into a single interface.

Already high-end

The Magic9 Pro Max is already a high-specced beast, featuring a 200 MP Ultra Night Main Camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, f/1.57 aperture, OIS and 3-degree gimbal-level stabilization. This is paired with a 200 MP Ultra Night Telephoto Camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture and OIS. Both achieve CIPA 8.0 stabilization performance. A 50MP Ultra-wide Camera with an f/2.0 aperture completes the rear camera system, with the whole thing built around the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform.

The self-developed HONOR Imaging Chip H1 is integrated into an imaging pipeline enhanced by ARRI Image Science. HONOR test data indicates that the integrated pipeline improves signal-to-noise ratio by 8 dB and supports up to 14 stops of cinematic dynamic range, helping retain texture, highlight detail and natural transitions in difficult lighting conditions.

Optional accessories, as the main image shows, include the HONOR Teleconverter G200, HONOR Teleconverter G500, and HONOR SmallRig Mobile Video Kit.

Availability details outside China are currently TBC. But if you ever wanted an ARRI camera in your pocket, and the Robot Phone seemed a bit gimmicky for you, you might get your chance soon.
