Godox LT1 pixel light and P100 printer target photography's fun side

Godox has recently released a hot-shoe pixel-art display and a pocket photo printer, reckoning that personalization and companion apps can carry the company into new creative niches.

Godox has released two recent accessories that sit well outside its usual sphere of things but bring an impressive creativity to product development: the LT1 LED Creative Pixel Light and the P100 Portable Color Photo Printer.

Both lean heavily into personalization, social content and the "fun" factor, but also have a genuine practical function bolted on.

P100 portable printer

The P100 portable color printer launched within days of newswires around the world having fun with the Natalie Harp story, the Trump aide nicknamed the "human printer." It has to be said that whether you're printing stuff out for a US President or a kid's birthday party full of clowns, being able to produce a physical photo is very on message for the current analog zeitgeist, as the success of Fujifilm's Instax line proves.

This takes that concept a step further by providing a pocket dye-sublimation printer that prints out 300 DPI images featuring 16.7 million colors onto 97 x 53 mm (3.8 x 2.1 in) photo paper. Automatic lamination coats every print for dust, water and fingerprint resistance.

It's a mere 142.5 x 86.8 x 26.8 mm (5.6 x 3.4 x 1.1 in) and a lightweight 320 g (11.3 oz), and the accompanying Godox Cam app provides a whole host of creative tools to play with the images, capable of adding filters, frames, and stickers, as well as providing templates, ID photo, and collage tools.

Price is $119, with replacement ink/paper packs at $19. The app makes it one of the most flexible options in this space, and dare we say it, fun.

LT1 LED Creative Pixel Light

Also very much majoring on the fun aspect of things is the LT1, a tiny pixel-art display, 37 x 27 x 48 mm (1.5 x 1.1 x 1.9 in) and about 37 g (1.3 oz), that clips to a camera hot shoe, wrist strap, or magnetic surface, complete with a pair of little horns and ears. Pair it with a phone over NFC and the Godox Light app lets you push expressions, patterns, GIFs, scrolling text, or your own pixel art to its RGB screen.

It also does something genuinely useful, though, and doubles as a single-button remote to switch grouped Godox lights on and off without unlocking a phone. Up to three units can drive the same lighting scene together.

As to the horns and ears, they're a product of the Godox mascot being a white bull. Now we've all learned something new today.
