Godox KNOWLED LED lights at IBC deliver HMI-class output with far greater energy efficiency, lighter weight, and compact design, thus addressing sustainability challenges in modern film and TV production.

Plenty of lights on show on the Godox stand at IBC, with particular attention being paid to its new KNOWLED MG4K illumination which delivers the comparable output to an HMI 4K light, but is both lightweight and small.

“It's super lightweight at just 10 kg (22 lb)but with a very high output and only one person is needed for setup,” RedShark was told at the Godox booth.

As energy efficiency becomes a key consideration for cinematographers worldwide, Godox says it is pushing the boundaries of what is possible with high-output, low-draw lighting solutions. Now it is challenging the traditional belief that high brightness requires high energy input.

Evolving Needs

“All our latest fixtures are engineered to meet the evolving needs of today's film industry and for large-scale productions as well as agile location shoots,” a company representative said. “We’re offering uncompromising performance with remarkable power efficiency.”

Aside from the new MG4K, Godox is also demonstrating the recently released MG6K which is claimed to be comparable to a 6kW HMI in brightness whilst consuming just 4300W; and the M300R. The brightness and colour of this “surpasses many 600W fixtures on the market,” making it one of the most efficient full-colour lights in its class, we are told.

In addition, Godox's MG2400R is a 2650W full-colour monster, ideal for large-scale productions demanding both intensity and colour precision.

This new class of lighting gives cinematographers greater flexibility on set, especially in power-limited environments, and without sacrificing quality, consistency, or control.
