Frame.io has been on an efficient monthly release cycle for a while now, and the most recent update saw a decent mix of major upgrades and small quality-of-life improvements that can have a real impact.

Adobe says in a blog post that, from a redesigned Premiere panel that brings in-app project access, to enterprise-grade security controls, to new API capabilities and mobile performance improvements, the July updates to Frame.io have been some of the most wide-ranging yet.

Having a look at the list, the company might have a point. Here's what's new.

Redesigned Premiere panel (beta)

There is a completely rebuilt Premiere integration, which the devs say is the best version yet. The newly redesigned Frame.io panel for Premiere Pro (beta) gives you direct access to all of your accounts, workspaces, projects, and assets without leaving Premiere. You can now sync comments in Frame.io to markers in Premiere while maintaining alignment between feedback and your edit, and for the first time you can import assets directly from Frame.io into your Premiere project.

The beta is available now with a full production release coming later this year.

Asset Lifecycle Management

This lets Enterprise admins set automated expiration dates for uploaded assets so that they’re deleted after a set period of time. These can be applied at the account and workspace level, and they can also add exemptions at the project level. You’ll see a countdown on assets scheduled to expire, and admins can easily reset the asset lifecycle clock or recover recently deleted files within 30 days.

This should go a long way to reducing the grind of manual cleanup, as well as lowering the risk of storing outdated or sensitive files.

Share Restricted Folders

Another security enhancement: you can now securely include Restricted Folders in Shares. When you add a Restricted Folder,  or assets inside a Restricted Folder,  to a Share, they follow the Share’s access rules. That means you can collaborate with the right people while keeping tight control over private material.

Built in warning and confirmation safeguards help prevent accidental exposure. You can even mix restricted and unrestricted items in the same Share, with warnings, before you proceed.

Instant Workspace Access

This is a bit of a bug fix where users would find that they were on the marketing site rather than the work site and have to log in again. Now if you’re already logged into Frame.io and type 'frame.io' in your browser, you’ll go straight to your workspace bypassing the marketing site entirely.

And Elsewhere...
