Frame.io is rolling out interesting updates at IBC2025, including account-level metadata, streamlined sharing, forensic watermarking, DRM, and enhanced transcription.
Several interesting new Frame.io updates will be introduced at IBC. Account-level metadata possibly heads the list in terms of time savings. This lets you define custom metadata once and apply it across all projects and workspaces, promoting consistency and speed. It's available immediately for new users, while existing users will receive it before year-end.
A new “Quick Share” modal allows for instant sharing from within your project view with fewer clicks and faster workflow, while preserving advanced branding and security options. Rolling out to select accounts soon, then more broadly. Again this is not immediately available to everyone, but is rolling out to select accounts soon, then more broadly.
Security Features
There are some new security features too, designed to prevent content piracy during production.
- Forensic Watermarking: Invisible, unique watermarking embedded at the pixel level, survives copying/export/screen recording and helps trace leaks. Take that leakers! Available later this month for Enterprise Prime and some legacy Enterprise customers.
- Digital Rights Management (DRM): Encrypted playback restricts viewing to authorized users only. It also blocks screen grabbing and unauthorized sharing while allowing editors with permissions normal access. Rolling out later this month to Enterprise Prime and select legacy Enterprise customers.

Extensions & Transcription
Automate creative workflows and plug Frame.io into existing tools like Slack or Dropbox using our public API and development docs—or low-code/no-code connectors like Adobe Workfront Fusion, Zapier, and Make.
Transcription has also been enhanced with automatic speaker detection, inline editing that updates captions, support for .srt and .vtt imports, and the ability to share videos with captions embedded.
