As promised back when the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P officially launched in July, DJI’s flagship camera is now available in Pearl White.
The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P had a convoluted journey to launch, but the story is now complete. The white version of the company’s flagship dual-lens gimbal camera is now available, having been listed simply as “coming soon” when its black counterpart launched globally on July 30.
It’s not just white either; it’s Pearl White. “Crafted with mica-infused pearlescent pigments and multi-layer spray coating technology, the Pearl White finish reveals subtle, soft luminous shifts across different lighting conditions and viewing angles,” says the company.
Everything else stays the same: a 1-inch CMOS sensor with 17 stops of dynamic range, the latest 10-bit D-Log 2 color profile, and dual lenses spanning 20mm to 60mm optical range. Pricing is also the same as the Classic Black model, at $619. And as you can see from the picture below, some, but not all, of its matching accessories also come in the new colorway.

"Outstanding image quality"
You can read our full review of the camera here. TL;DR we like it a lot and the image quality is outstanding, but there are a few niggles when it comes to implementation. To be fair, some of those have been addressed in firmware updates since release.
We had a bit of a dig around to see if there was any data on how different colorways performed with buyers, but couldn’t find anything beyond some old Apple data in a Fortune article from 2006 that said black nano iPods outsold white nano iPods 4:3. Oh, and a PhoneArena reader poll from 2016 suggested that out of 20 smartphone colors, ~21% of nearly 2500 participants chose white as their preference, closely followed by black with ~19%. If anyone has anything more recent, do let us know.
Either way, DJI gets another bump up to the top of the news cycle and users get another option for the Pocket 4P. Unless, of course, they live in the US. Maybe DJI should release a Space Gray version to acknowledge all the gray imports…
