DJI Mic 3: Ultralight Wireless Microphone with 32-Bit Float Recording and Adaptive Gain Control

The new DJI Mic 3 is an ultralight, compact, and discreet wireless microphone that brings a range of new features and improvements over the previous version.

The new DJI Mic 3 can support up to 4 transmitters (TX) and 8 receivers (RX) for multi‑camera production and group recording and debuts several firsts for DJI wireless mics. It is the first in the series to feature adaptive gain control that automatically prevents clipping or dynamically balances the volume, the first to introduce three voice tone presets and two-level active noise cancelling, and the first to accommodate dual-file 32-bit float internal recording, which is enabled by 32 GB of onboard storage.

Dual-File 32-Bit Float Recording with 32 GB Internal Storage

That internal recording helps safeguard against wireless interference or device issues, ensuring users don’t lose critical audio. Dual-file internal recording saves both the original track and an algorithm-enhanced version, offering creative flexibility and streamlining post-production workflows. Two recording specifications—24-bit or 32-bit floating point—provide a wide dynamic range suited to complex sound environments.

The transmitter also supports high-precision timecode, embedding data directly during internal recording. Across a 24-hour period, timecode accuracy deviates by no more than one frame, guaranteeing precise synchronization across multiple cameras and enabling seamless alignment in post-production.

When set to Quadraphonic mode, the DJI Mic 3 receiver can output four independent audio tracks, enabling track separation and flexible mixing when paired with select Sony cameras or compatible software.

Compact Form Factor and Wearable Options

DJI Mic 3_CityVlog_Small and portable_It’s certainly compact. The mic weighs just 16 g (0.56 oz) and measuring 28.77 × 28.34 × 16.35 mm (1.13 × 1.11 × 0.64 in). It can be worn with either a magnetic or clip-on attachment. Unlike the previous model, it no longer includes a 3.5 mm lav mic input. DJI Mic 3 windscreens are available in five different colors to help match clothing or shooting environments.

Battery life is up to 8 hours (TX) and 10 hours (RX). The charging case accommodates two transmitters and one receiver, with space for windscreens and magnets without needing removal. It provides approximately 2.4 full charges, extending runtime by around 28 hours. A 5-minute quick charge delivers 2 hours of use, while a full recharge takes about 50 minutes.

Adaptive Gain Control, Voice Presets, and Noise Cancelling

Meanwhile, Dynamic mode automatically adjusts gain in response to volume changes, ensuring consistent loudness in indoor/studio environments

The three voice tone presets are Regular, Rich, and Bright, and tune voices, boosting low frequencies to reduce muddiness or enhancing high frequencies to improve clarity. Simultaneously, two-level active noise cancelling reduces background sounds such as air conditioning to deliver crisp and clear audio.

Finally, the Lossless Audio feature enables the transmitter to deliver uncompressed 48kHz 24-bit audio directly to the receiver, capturing audio in high-fidelity detail.

Connectivity

DJI Mic 3 (1TX+1RX)-06The Mic 3 offers a 400 metre (1,312 ft) range with strong resistance to interference. Automatic frequency hopping between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands ensures stable transmission.

It connects directly to the DJI OsmoAudio ecosystem, pairing seamlessly with Osmo 360, Osmo Action 5 Pro, Osmo Action 4, and Osmo Pocket 3 without needing a receiver. For other devices, the Mic 3 includes a locking 3.5 mm TRS output port, a 3.5 mm TRRS monitoring port, and a USB-C port. It can also connect to smartphones via Bluetooth, again without a receiver.

Pricing and Availability

The DJI Mic 3 is available now.
