Disguise has named Renderboxes as a recommended hardware vendor for X1, the portable, software-only version of its hugely popular Designer live events system.

Disguise has named Renderboxes as a recommended hardware vendor for X1, its entry-level, software-only visual experience platform.

X1 offers real-time visual control, mapping and playback at one 4K output. It runs the same Designer software engine used by a reported 95% of the world's A-list music artists, but as a portable license. The new pairing puts Renderboxes' Photon workstation in the frame as the recommended machine for teams running X1 on their own hardware.

X1 is aimed at small to mid-sized live events, from concerts and theatre to branded corporate work, and the Photon is a good fit. It’s Renderboxes’ compact, standardized workstation, built from off-the-shelf parts, including an AMD Ryzen 9000 Series, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU, and is designed for the rigors of touring and demanding show workflows. It’s robust and portable at 36.5 x 25.5 x 19.3 cm (14.4 x 10 x 7.6 in) and 10 kg (22 lb), and has precisely the processing grunt and headroom needed to run X1 at its full potential.

Pricing and availability

Renderboxes Photon prices currently start at £4700 and, impressively for a machine that ships with 96 GB RAM in 2026, have a lead time measured in days not weeks. Disguise X1 launched last year for a $6000 annual fee, with special prices for bundles and educational licenses.
