Cooke Optics has introduced the Panchro 65/i, a new lens series designed for 65mm and larger-format cinematography.
Cooke has a long and illustrious history of supporting large-format filmmaking with lenses such as the Double Speed Panchros and Duopanchros released in the early 1950s and designed for VistaVision and 65mm film. So, as the likes of ARRI and Fujifilm embrace the 65mm format again, Cooke is following suit with the new Panchro 65/I series.
To showcase the new lenses, Cooke has released some exclusive footage shot by Cinematographer Ben Saffer.
Six of the Best
Cooke says the new lenses combine classic character with modern performance, scaling the iconic Panchro look to cover a significantly larger image circle, ideal for today’s advanced high-end digital cinema cameras.
Panchro 65/i focal lengths:
-
30mm (T2.8 – T22)
-
40mm (T2.8 – T22)
-
55mm (T2.5 – T22)
-
75mm (T2.5 – T22)
-
100mm (T2.5 – T22)
-
152mm (T2.9 – T22)
And, of course, the company is quick to point out that the Panchro 65/i is the only 65mm lens series to include Cooke’s /i Technology, providing lens metadata for production workflows.
