Blackmagic has introduced three new 3G Micro Converters, each one supports all HDMI to SDI, SDI to HDMI, and SDI and HDMI bi-directional.

All formats of 3G-SDI are supported with these broadcast converters, up to 1080p60 resolution, plus 1080p24, 1080p47.95, and 1080p48, plus HDMI timecode.

A big advantage of these Micro Converters is the ability to connect devices that have HDMI I/O ports to pro-level SDI equipment, and are USB- or AC-powered. For example, the HDMI to SDI 3G Micro Converter is ideal for plugging in an HDMI camera to a professional SDI monitor.

Blackmagic says the SDI to HDMI 3G Micro Converter is ideal for monitoring video on a standard TV, monitor, or even a project with HDMI ports. To calibrate, there is 17-point 3D LUT available, which can help get things as close to the source as possible. The company says DCI formats are also supported.

The Bi-Directional SDI/HDMI 3G Micro Converter may be the most ideal device to consider. Blackmagic promises that you'll be able to convert HDMI to SDI and also SDI to HDMI at the same time, which is very impressive. It also supports camera switchers for live or live-to-tape filming.

The Blackmagic 3G Micro Converters support current broadcast standards, and can be updated as new standards are introduced down the road.

The HDMI to SDI 3G Micro Converter costs $45 USD, the SDI to HDMI device costs $49, and the Bi-Directional HDMI and SDI 3G Micro Converter costs $65. It's a bit of a no-brainer to pick one up if your production or post-production workflows need such a device. Get the full details at Blackmagic's site.
