Sony's VENICE 2 Firmware Version 5.00 update adds a new Signature preset look for on-set monitoring, plus 12G-SDI output support and usability improvements.
Sony's VENICE 2 Firmware Version 5.00 update was always promised to release July 2026, and Sony has been as good as its word with the software hitting servers last week. Arriving 11 months after v4.00, v5.00 adds a new "Signature" preset look, along with 12G-SDI support for a new output format and a handful of usability tweaks.
Signature is an interesting new addition, a LUT preset aimed at on-set monitoring that promises to offer natural color reproduction, consistent skin tones, and smooth tonal gradation from shadows to highlights. It sits alongside the existing S709 preset as a monitoring option rather than replacing it.
The update also adds 4096×2160P 12G as an SDI output format at a project frame rate of 47.95 fps, enabling single-cable connection to compatible devices. The CNA-2 Camera Control Network Adaptor can now be used as a LAN conversion adaptor.
Other changes include improved visibility of the "Out of Range" text in the moiré alert display during In-Camera VFX shooting, and a brighter Bubble gauge marking for better monitor visibility.
The software is available on the Sony Support pages, with the caveat that any VENICE 2 camera needs to be upgraded to v4.10 before v5.00 can be installed.
V6.00 will be available in 2027, though there's no word yet on an exact date or what it will contain.
