What your life is missing: The Teletubbies perform ‘Get Ur Freak On’ by Missy Elliott

1 minute read

Robert JonesIf you want to feel your age, the original Teletubbies series ran from 1997 to 2001.

Sometimes you look at the world today and struggle to make sense of anything. This video certainly won't help. It's a brilliant mashup by famous YouTube Editor, Robert Jones.

I've always thought Teletubbies were a bit sinister: that authoritarian shower-head thing used to terrify me (and I was 37 years old at the time). But nothing prepares you for the sheer horror of this performance.

Apart from scaring the wits out of you, the reason we're featuring this here is to show that really great editing can be incredibly powerful. This clip is totally convincing and it must have taken hours to put together. It's very closely observed - to the extent that every little look and sideways glance has a new meaning.

Brace yourself (and be aware that there's some strong language in the soundtrack). Time for Teletubbies!
