NAB in video: Spotlight on Symply

Alex Grossman, CRO Americas, Symply

RedShark’s Bas Goossens talks to Alex Grossman, CRO Americas at Symply, on the NAB show floor about the storage specialist’s excellent new SymplyFIRST range and more.

Storage is one of those things that has changed massively in the past few years. We need more and we need it to be faster and we need it to be bulletproof. This is precisely where Symply comes in, a company that looked at how storage platforms are being used as opposed to how they could be used and decided to intervene.

“We looked at the market, looked at what people are doing, and saw that a lot of these essential products in storage — RAID products, tape products, cloud products — they’d all got a little stale,” explains CRO Americas, Alex Grossman. “We just wanted to make them better. So we started from scratch and just built better products.”

The video below shows some of the achievements the company has had with that approach. It’s impressive stuff. The first product Alex talks about is the SymplySPARK XT, a whisper-quiet, $7795, 112TB 8-bay desktop and thoroughly portable system that’s sitting on the Booth happily reading and writing at over 2000MBps.

“It uses multi-actuator technology to provide SSD speeds with hard drive pricing,” he says. “Think of it as a hard drive with two heads. We get twice the performance at the same cost with the same reliability.”
